Systems Integration Inc., a Maryland-based provider of technical support, will bolster its workforce in New Mexico with 100 new hires.

The employment expansion comes as part of the growth of an existing government contract with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). Systems Integration was previously awarded a 5-year TSA contract that initially created 100 jobs.

As part of the additional work, Systems Integration will provide systems administration, system maintenance, system monitoring, change management, technical support, training and project management services. A total of 100 openings are for customer service representatives, according to the state, and new hires will make $17 per hour, according to vice president Su Fan.

Last month, the New Mexico Economic Development Department announced it pledged $545,750 in Job Training Incentive Program (JTIP) money for the expansion. JTIP funds are meant to fund job training for newly-created jobs at expanding or relocating firms.

A representative for Systems Integration Inc. was unable to be reached for immediate comment.

The company provides call center and information technology support services. It opened a call center in Albuquerque in 2019. The local market presented opportunity for government contracting with Sandia National Laboratories and Kirtland Air Force Base, among other entities, Fan told Business First in 2019.

Government contracting business is big business in Albuquerque, with several large and small firms competing for contracts and subcontracts. So far this year, Systems Integration has been obligated $15.4 million worth of federal funds with four new contracts during the 2021 fiscal year, according to federal spending data on usaspending.gov.

The TSA is Systems Integration's largest federal customer by far, accounting for more than $76 million worth of work.

Correction/Clarification
A previous version of this article incorrectly stated that the additional hires were the result of a new contract with the TSA. The hourly wage figure has also been corrected to $17 per hour per information from Systems Integration.
