Albuquerque is on the map of a Minnesota-based fire and life safety company's nationwide expansion.

Summit Companies announced last month it acquired Sound & Signal Systems of New Mexico, an electrical company, through subsidiary Summit Fire & Security.

Sound & Signal Systems has expertise in various types of low-voltage systems, including fire alarm, sound and security systems, according to its website. It is led by President and Owner Ted Jorgensen.

"The team [Jorgensen] has put together has an incredibly high level of expertise to tackle the most complex of projects. This partnership solidifies our presence in New Mexico and poises us to be the market leader here,” said Nic Brown, president of Summit Fire & Security, in a statement.

The acquisition is part of a string of six similar deals recently announced by CI Capital Partners, a private equity firm that acquired a majority interest in Summit Companies through an affiliate, according to a September 2017 release. Five of the six deals help expand Summit's presence in the south and southwest regions, according to a Friday release from CI Capital.

"We are very proud to welcome these teams to Summit Companies. Each of these businesses is run by well-respected experts in their geographies who share Summit's commitment to providing excellent customer service," said Jeff Evrard, CEO of Summit Companies, in a statement.

Other acquisitions announced included organizations in Texas, Colorado and North Dakota, CI Capital's release says.

Summit Companies is a fire and life safety firm providing services to protect buildings, assets and people. It offers sprinkler systems, extinguishers, alarms and consulting and engineering services, according to its website. It says it serves commercial and government industries.
